The Racal Storeplex is a 32 Channel portable instrumentation tape recorder. The tape transport uses S-VHS digital helical scan format up to 64 channels (with two systems). S-VHS tapes must be used. Each channels has up to a 45.5 kHz bandwidth. Bandwidth is determined by the number of active channels and other settings. This multi-channel high-speed data recording system is comprised of two fundamental components, the Storeplex Tape Transport Unit (TTU) and the Signal Processing Unit (SPU). Ancillary functions such as configuration control and TTU to SPU communications are provided by computer interface
The Racal Storeplex features up to 64 independent channels and can be used to mix analog (up to 45.5kHz) and digital channels (if installed up to 12.8 Mbit/s). The analog channels have 16-bit sampling technology to achieve a 96dB dynamic range. Recorder data from the Storeplex is annotated for identification and search by means of timecode, tape-count, frame number, channel names, record name and number, file number, event marker and counter.
The Racal Storeplex has been an industry standard for years.
