The Amplifier Research 40S1G4 is a solid state, self-contained, air-cooled, broadband amplifier designed for applications where instantaneous bandwidth, high gain, and linearity are necessary. It is housed in a stylish cabinet, designed for benchtop use, but can also  be removed for immediate equipment rack mounting.

Features and Specifications of the Amplifier Research 40S1G4 include:

  • Features:

    • Provides a minimum of 40 watts of RF power when used with a sweep generator

    • Front panel gain allows convenience of setting desired output level

    • RF input leveling circuit:

      • Controls the RF input level to the RF amplifier first stage when the RF input level is increased above 0 dBm

      • Protects the amplifier from RF input overdrive

    • RF amplifier stages are protected from over-temperature by removing the DC voltage to them if an over-temperature condition occurs due to cooling blockage or fan failure

    • Digital display on the front panel indicates the operate status and fault conditions when an over-temperature or power supply fault has occurred

    • All control functions and status indications are available remotely in GPIB/IEEE-488 format, RS-232 hardwire and fiber optic, USB, and Ethernet

    • Bus interface connector is located on the back panel

    • Local/Remote switch on front panel assures positive control of local or remote operation

    • Low level of spurious signals and linearity make it ideal for these various uses:

      • As a driver amplifier in testing wireless and communication components and subsystems

      • As a test instrument covering multiple frequency bands

      • For communication technologies including CDMA, W-CDMA, TDMA, GSM, etc.

      • For EMC Test applications where undistorted modulation envelopes are needed
